Living life on a smooth path, one without twists and turns would be a dream come true, or would it? Our walk with God enables us to manage the path while we lean on Him for support. Walking a labyrinth is much like life. A labyrinth is not a maze. There is only one unicursal path with one way in and out. There are no dead ends nor can you get lost. It is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The Labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools. When you step into the labyrinth, you are alone with God walking into the center of your deepest self and back out into the world with an open heart ready to receive the world our Savior has provided. I have walked a labyrinth with folded hands, a zing in my step, or even tears in my eyes, knowing with each step forward my relationship with my Lord would never be the same. I can be directionally challenged at times, but this is one time I will not be as lost upon leaving the center. As you walk the labyrinth choose your attitude and spirit and open yourself up to all that God has laid out before you. It’s one way that God can teach us His blessed ways and revel in His smooth path.”
